Peter Quince is the head of the acting company invited to perform at Duke Theseus's wedding in Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream . He is the unofficial director of the play, Pyramus and Thisbe , that the actors must perform. He is constantly exasperated by what the other actors say and do in the preparation of the play, especially the antics of Nick Bottom, the weaver, who is the star actor ho wants to play all the roles, and the hammiest of them all. He seems to mellow in the second half of A Midsummer Night's Dream when Bottom apparently disappears after the head of a jackass is put on hm because of an enchantment by the fairy Puck.
