***MASSIVE SPOILERS & SOME SWEARING AHEAD***Omar Suarez was an under-boss for Frank Lopez. His job was to hire people fit for certain tasks and to make deals with major narcotic dealers. His character was that of a weasel who often argued with the title character Tony Montana (Scarface). Frank trusts Omar and never questions his loyalty. We first see Omar when he recruits Tony while he (Tony) was working as a kitchen assistant in a road-side diner. Tony had already been granted a green card (US resident permit). This was in exchange when on the order of Frank Lopez, Tony assassinated a former Castro govt minister (Rabenga) who had been exiled while they were both in an immigration camp (Freedomtown) after having fled Cuba. Omar offers Tony and his assistant a job to unload marijuana from a boat, but Tony questions Omar on why the pay is below the normal rate. Omar tells him he has to work his way up, and when Tony reminds him of the assassination he had already committed for Frank Lopez, Omar gets angry and an argument breaks out between them. Omar's assistant named Waldo Rohas who is in the car with him interjects and reminds Omar of a job with some Colombians . Omar explains the details of this job to Tony, and it seems that tempers have cooled and they have found common ground even when Omar sarcastically reminds Tony to not lose the buy money or his boss will stick their heads up their ass faster than a rabbit gets fucked . It seems later that Omar wasn't telling Tony everything, and he was in fact sending Tony and his crew on a suicide mission, and at the time you can sense that Omar never expected Tony to survive the deal. When Tony later calls Omar after the deal to explain that it had gone wrong, Omar seems surprised to hear from him. Tony informs him that although somebody fucked up , he had both the drugs and the buy money. When Omar asks to meet up with him, Tony demands to see Frank personally to hand over the drugs and the buy money,. Left with no other choice, Omar sets up the meeting between Tony & Frank. Frank is instantly impressed with Tony's actions, and during the course of the story you can sense that Omar resents Tony's rise through Frank's organization. There is always tension between the two whenever they meet, and Omar senses that he is being pushed aside for his new protege. When Frank orders Omar to visit Alex Sosa's narcotic compound in Bolivia, Tony is sent along to watch Omar's back while he negotiates the drug deal with Sosa. After Sosa shows them around the compound, the three of them (Tony Montana, Omar Suarez, Alex Sosa) sit down to have lunch & discuss the finer details of the drug deal. When the drug deal stalls due to a disagreement in price and logistics, Sosa is pulled aside on the (false) pretext of an incoming phone-call by a sinister looking bodyguard who tells him in secret that Omar was once an informer or stoolie , for the police. Sosa then returns to the table where he asks Tony (who is acting as Omar's bodyguard) to remain at his compound for a few days while Omar went back to Florida to confer with Frank on what to do next. This off course is just a ruse by Sosa to separate Omar from Tony, and at first it is not clear who Sosa intends to harm. Omar then boards a helicopter which is supposed to take him to the airport so he can board a plane back to Florida, and at that point it seems that Omar is being let go so Tony can be isolated. But then as the helicopter takes off, Sosa begins to explain to Tony that Omar is was spotted as a snitch and he must be eliminated. Sosa then hands Tony a pair of binoculars so he can see for himself exactly what is happening to Omar. When Tony focuses (camera zooms in), he sees that Omar is being badly beaten in the hovering helicopter and a noose is being placed around his neck! Before a visibly shaken Tony realizes what is happening, Omar gets pushed out and is shown to dangle below the helicopter. When things have settle down, Sosa asks Tony what he will do about what just happened. Tony tells him that he never liked Omar, and for all he knew Omar had him (Tony) set up and had his cousin Angel killed. Tony goes on to tell him that he is prepared to do business with him as he had no loyalty to Omar, and further more he will go back to his boss Frank Lopez to try to smooth things over . Tony impresses Sosa with his frankness, and they agree to keep negotiations open between Lopez & Sosa. When Tony gets back to Florida, he meets his boss to discuss what had transpired in Bolivia. Frank is visibly upset when Tony tells him what had happened to Omar, and Frank is also not convinced that Omar was in fact an informer. Frank goes on to abuse Sosa and accuse Tony of having played an active part in Omar's death. It is this that ignites their feud between them which ultimately ends up with Tony killing Frank and becoming one of the biggest drug importers & distributors in Florida.Several years prior to his demise in Bolivia,Sosa points out to Tony that in New York Omar was an informant for the police, and was responsible for arrest ,and prosecution of two major distributors Vito Duvall, and the Ramos brothers Nello, and Gino all who got life sentences. It could have been that they too had worked for Sosa.
