Mr. Palmer is the husband of Charlotte Palmer and therefore the son-in-law of Mrs. Jennings. This fate he doesn't bear well or graceful. He is grumpy and often rude to his wife and other persons he finds silly, boring or unendurable. His self-importance reflects in silent self-exilation from the current society or, if forced to communicate, in sarcastic remarks.
