Morrison was a Scottish rebel who fought with William Wallace until his death at the battle of Falkirk. As peasants in English -occupied Scotland, the people were subject to a cruel law. Under King Edward the Longshanks' law, his noblemen with land in Scotland were allowed to take sexual liberties with common Scottish women on the first night of their weddings, a custom known in Latin as primae noctis. On the night of their wedding, Morrison and his new wife are visited by an armed patrol escorting the English Lord Bottoms arrived who's to bless their marriage by taking her into his bed. Morrison and his friends try to fight, but the English soldiers overpower them. Rather than see her husband killed, Morrison's wife peacefully goes with the English, staying the soldiers arms, to the fascination of the village. Before she leaves, she whispers quietly to her new husband, I'll be OK. I love you. Morrison got his chance for revenge when he joins Wallace and his rebels in a fight against the soldiers in their village. Then, with the help of neighboring clans, Wallace and his men overran Lord Bottoms' garrison after killing 50 of his men on patrol. Morrison confronted Bottoms, who tried to justify what he did as his noble right. The enraged Morrison replied that he was there to claim his right as a husband and beat Bottoms to death.Morrison remained to fight with Wallace as one of his captains, and participated in the battle of Stirling and the sacking of York. In some cases, he served as a runner/scout. Morrison was killed in the battle of Falkirk, after the noblemen who agreed to fight with Wallace betrayed him and left the Scots fighting the British for dead. Show less «
