Marybeth (Tamara Feldman) is a member of a tour into the swamps of New Orleans and is seen to be hot tempered, rejecting another tourist, Ben (Joel David Moore) efforts to become friends. After the tour boat crashes into some rocks, leading to the group becoming stranded and one member, Jim Permatteo (Richard Riehle) severley injured, they discover their tour guide Shawn (Parry Shen) is just a student trying to make money. Marybeth tells the others that she is looking for her missing brother and father and that is the reason why she came on the tour. She tells the group of the ledgend of Victor Crowley, scaring everyone. The group venture to a house, but Marybeth realizes it is that of Crowleys and they should not enter. Ignoreing her remarks both Jim and his wife Shannon Permatteo (Patrika Darbo) get closer to the house, before a deformed Crowley apears and murders the pair. Marybeth attempts to shoot Crowley, but the bullets have no effect. After another tourist is discovered dead, the group go back to the house to get weapons. Marybeth and Ben enter and find her dead brother and father. Ben confronts her, but Crowley quickly turns up and despite the groups efforts, 2 more are killed at the hands of Crowley. Devising a plan to lure Crowley back to the house and set him on fire, Marybeth stands guard with Marcus (Deon Richmond) while Ben enters the house. The only other tourist is killed by Crowley, leading to the remainging 3 to panic. However they succesfully set Crowley on fire, but it begins to rain and the fire is extinguished. As the survivours run through a cemetery, Marcus is killed and Ben is impaled in the foot by a gate pole. Marybeth bends the pole forward so it is pointing towards Crowley, who impales himself upon it. The pair board a boat after defeating Crowley, but Marybeth becomes snagged on a bit of seaweed and falls into the water. She sees Bens hand sticking into the water for her to grab. She does so, and is pulled to the surface, only to see Crowley holding a dying Bens severed forearm. The movie finishes as Marybeth screams. Show less «
