MacGyver, the title character from the adventure series, always goes by this name, or just Mac, and tries to hide even from close frieds that his first name is Angus, a traditional Scottish name which he seems to find embarrassing for a modern-day American. He lost his parents as a young boy, so he grew up being very close with his grandfather Harry Jackson, and did brilliant studies, having a natural nack for science and technology. His ability to repair, craft or sabotage almost anything from a household appliance to a nuclear reactor in no time, using whatever lies around, however uncomfortable the conditions, even dangling at dizzling heights, is legendary, giving rise to the term MacGyverism in the real world. His employment is unclear in the first seasons, apparently varying as a secret agent, but always on the good side, usually against some criminal, terrorist or oppressive fiend, anywhere in the world, while in the later seasons he works for the equally mysterious, polyvalent Phoenix Foundation. He also happens to be at the right/wrong place and time to come to the rescue of the needy and/or fight evil in various shapes, which his golden heart and noble sense of duty can never resist, in fact he even gets the foundation to let him use their resources for such 'pet cases' by way as a personal favor they call his bonus after an official job. The charming, cheeky but ever curtous and helpfull gentleman has had many girlfriends but never stuck with one, the call of some adventure usually got in the way. Yet he discovers that he probably has an adolescent son. Show less «
