Reginald Lee was born in 1870 although he is invariably depicted as a much younger man in Titanic movies. He had transferred as lookout from Olympic to Titanic just before the latter's maiden voyage and was in the crow's nest with Frederick Fleet when the berg was sighted. Like Fleet he maintained that he might have spotted the ice earlier if binoculars had been provided, although most historians doubt that because binoculars at night are useful only if you know what you are looking at and where. Like Fleet, Lee survived the sinking but died the following year from complications of a serious bout of pneumonia. Show less «
