Lisa Stillman was introduced in Breaking Free (third episode of Season One) of Heartland. Lisa is a renowned horse breeder and comes to know Amy Fleming when Dr. Scott Cardinal brings Amy to look at a troubled horse named Promise. Lisa is initially skeptical of Amy's abilities due to her youth, but is quickly won over when Amy makes progress with Promise. She defends Amy and becomes one of her supporters. As the series progresses, Lisa becomes romantically involved with the series' family patriarch, Jack Bartlett. She divides her time between her business interests in France and her home base of Fairfield Stables in Hudson. Lisa continues to have a working relationship with her ex-husband, Dan Hartfield, even though this tends to cause friction with Jack.Described by Ashley Stanton as one of the richest women in Hudson , Lisa has a habit of lavishing others with extravagant (sometimes inappropriate) gifts. She often butts heads with Lou Fleming, as both are strong-willed women with their own ideas about how things should be run. Despite their differences, Lou asked Lisa to be the godmother of her daughter, Katie; Lisa happily agreed.Lisa and Jack have experienced their share of ups and downs, most significantly in Season Six when they seem to come to an irreparable rift caused by a disastrous trip to France that Jack hated, but pretended to enjoy so as not to upset Lisa. They do not reconcile until Season Seven (episodes 713 & 714) when a road trip to deliver a horse finds them lost and stranded in the woods. At the conclusion of the season, Jack and Lisa elope, choosing to keep their marriage a secret for several months, and choosing to remain living in their separate homes. In Season Nine, Lisa is much more present at Heartland Ranch, helping with babysitting duties where Katie is concerned, and supporting Jack when he must put down his beloved horse, Paint. In the episode Pandora's Box, Lisa deals with a health scare that has her scrambling to take care of her will, much to Jack's bewilderment as he was initially unaware of the source of her worry. By the end of the episode Lisa is assured by her doctor that all is well.
