Lalin is an associate of Carlito from the earlier days of his career. When Carlito is released, Pachanga informs him that Lalin is doing 30 years in prison. Lalin visits Carlito at the club. He is in a wheel chair due to being shot in the spine. After some small talk and catching up, Lalin attempts to lead Carlito into incriminating himself. Carlito grows suspicious and holds a knife to Lalin's throat, searches him and finds a wire. Lalin admits that he was sent there by D.A. Norwalk in exchange for being released from prison.
