John Clasky is an Upper Middle Class chef that wants to work in a resterant with a homey, open, neigborhood feel. To keep a chief co-worker with him, John sold him half of the resterant. This resulted in the four star reserant becoming corporate and expensive, losing all of the basic charm John wanted to keep. John tries to be a good husband and father but is frequently hen-pecked by his insane, insecure wife Deborah. John has the machoness of a mexican woman and keeps everything bottled up, until he explodes usually at very inappropriate time (for example when giving the help a ride to the bus stop). John is also unable to express his feelings, this is probably due to Deborah, as everything is always about her and what she says, goes.John eventually falls in love with the spanish maid Flor. When he finds out Deborah is cheating on him, John and Flor go to his resterant after hours. He professes his love for her and respects and undertands her wishes not to have sex, even though they both want to. They have a long conversation in which Flor says I love you , then leaves. John later says goodbye to Flor and tells her that he envies the man she will end up with.John is disgusted with his wife and it is unknown whether they stay married or not.
