James Hogan is a tormented young man. He has done something terrible in his past, and contacts detective Lilly Rush to confess. Through a series of cat and mouse contacts, Rush begins to care for James and sees that he was manipulated by his ruthless former girlfriend, Sherry, of the episode title Sherry Darlin . Because of the developing bond between Rush and James, she finally convinces him to surrender to the police for murdering his grandmother. Later on, in Kensington, we see James again, and he asks Lilly why she never responds to his letters to her from prison. At the end of that episode we see her sit down to compose a letter to him, further evidence of the bond between them.
