Ivy Elizabeth Walker was born to Edward and Tabitha Walker in the small village of Covington. At an early age, Ivy lost her sight, and has relied on a walking stick to guide her.Ivy is the younger of the two Walker sisters, and considers herself somewhat of a tomboy, moreso than her elder sister, Kitty. She also cares for some of the younger children in the village, and also has befriended others close to her age, such as Lucius Hunt and Noah Percy.Though blind, Ivy claims she has the ability to see a 'color' (could also be considered an aura) around various people. This 'color' she can see regarding her father, as well as Lucius Hunt. Ivy is usually the calming voice of reason in some matters. When Lucius rejects her sister Kitty's feelings, Ivy comforts her with a song. After a series of appearances by certain creatures lurking in the woods, Lucius meets with Ivy, and the two admit their feelings for the other. Their decision to wed is told to the village elders the next day, but jealousy causes the mentally unstable Noah Percy to stab Lucius repeatedly, leaving him close to death.Ivy makes a plead to her father, Edward Walker, to allow her to pass through the woods to get medicines from the towns to save Lucius. After some time, Edward allows his daughter to know a dark secret regarding the village: there are no creatures roaming the woods, they are all a farce by the elders to keep anyone from going to the towns. Edward gives Ivy his permission to go, giving her a pocketwatch for payment, and information that someone will need to read regarding the medicine needed.Ivy is accompanied into the woods by two young men, who both slowly return to the village, afraid of what is out in the woods. Ivy uses a ploy that she has a bag of magic rocks to protect them, but even this does not calm their nerves. Ivy continues on by herself, her walking stick soon breaking, and almost falling into a sunken pit.As her journey continues, a familiar smell fills her nose, and she encounters one of the creatures. She tells herself that it isn't real, but it charges her, and she flees. Backtracking her path with her remaining senses, she locates the sunken pit, and leads the creature to fall into it. After hearing no further noise from the creature, she continues on.After finding a stream, she follows it to a large wall. After climbing over, she is frightened by a strange sound, and the voice of another person. Afraid that this person may be a violent person from the towns (the elders often spoke of violence happening there), she is at first timid, but soon hears kindness in the man's voice. He offers to help her find the medicines she needs, and Ivy gives him the pocketwatch she has as payment. The young man soon returns with the supplies, and helps Ivy over the large wall, back into the woods. After returning to the village, Ivy tells of her encounters with the creature in the woods, and delivers the medicines to help save Lucius. Show less «
