Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka)On the surface Hiro Nakamura is a happy-go-lucky office worker in Japan. He adores comic books, waffles, and daydreaming about being a superhero with his best friend Ando. Hiro is very child-like and sweet, often exuberantly exclaiming with joy at the smallest things that make him happy. In truth, Hiro has the ability of teleportation and time travel. And when he discovers that he is, in fact, a superhero, his exclamation of joy is deafening. He is excited to use his powers for good, saving people and keeping them out of harm's way. Unlike some of the others who discover their special powers, Hiro is thrilled and believes his powers should not be used for personal gain. But as Hiro knows, with great power comes great responsibility, and he uncovers some nefarious activities while traveling through the time in the world. Ando, who can speak English and drive, serves as his translater, navigator, and advisor. Hiro decides to try and alter fate by going back in time to seek out Peter Petrelli, a fellow gifted person who can absorb the powers or others, and ask for his help. Hiro tells Peter Save the Cheerleader, Save the World. Hiro is a very childish and immature character in many ways; simple things are enough to delight him and cheer him up ( Waffurus (Waffles)! ) no matter the circumstances. Only time will tell how soon he can mature and actually deal with the world for the first time in his life (possibly in the next five years, as implied in season one).It is implied that Hiro reads X-Men comic books and probably watches Star Trek (he possesses a Merry Marvel membership card, and he gives the New York police officers the Vulcan formal greeting when he first teleported to New York).
