Gomer Pyle works at Wally's Filling Station in Mayberry. He lives in a small room in back of the Station and as his character begins, he works just putting gas in cars. He later works up to a bit of mechanical work on cars and eventually leaves Mayberry to join the United States Marine Corp (USMC).Gomer is often deputized by Barney Fife to be his assistant when big things come up for the Mayberry Sheriff's Office. This usually happens much to Sheriff Andy Taylor's chagrin and often lead to the biggest of comedy of errors for the Sheriff's Office.Gomer is the cousin of Goober Pyle who takes over Gomer's position at Wally's Filling Station when Gomer goes off to serve in the USMC.
