Freddie Benson is Carly's next door neighbor and the technical producer for the iCarly web series. He has had a crush on Carly for as long as he can remember. She is aware of it and occasionally appeals to him for favors, knowing he can't say no to her. He makes sure the web series runs like it's supposed to, even putting the sound effects on Sam's remote. He also acts as cameraman and came up with the name for the show.Freddie is generally calm and unflappable, although he also frequently gets drawn into bickering with Sam.Background: He lives in Bushwell Plaza apartment 8D with his overprotective mother, Marissa, directly across the hall from Carly. His mother often embarrasses him in front of people and only gives him $8 a month allowance because she is worried if he had more, he would buy a bus ticket and leave her. Freddie does sometimes threaten to move out. He does well in school and is a member of the AV club. He is a tech geek and loves anything to do with technology. He fancies himself a prankster, but his attempts often backfire. He occasionally has nonsensical outbursts in Spanish for reasons that are not explained. There is some reference to a tracking chip his mother had implanted by a disreputable Venezuelan doctor.
