Faye Evelyn Schlob grew up in Syracuse, NY and during the Korean War she and her friends would dance with servicemen at the local USO. Faye became a flight attendant; but also performed other duties for the airline including baggage handling and manning the ticket counter, and she lived in several different cities (and took in boarders) throughout her airline career. She met Joe Hackett on one of her last flights as the airline was forcing her to retire due to her age. They struck a bargain to form Sandpiper Air together; Joe handling the flying and office duties and Faye handling the ticket counter and customer service, including announcing flight arrivals and departures at Tom Nevers Field on Nantucket, Massachusetts. Faye has been married and widowed three times, each of her husbands being named George.
