Enid coleslaw is a character originally invented by the author Daniel Clowes for his graphic novel Ghost World .Enid's name is the anagram of Daniel Clowes.Neither the movie or the comic contains precise time indications, but the story seems to take place in the early 1990's (abandon of vynyl records for CDs), in a city that could be Los Angeles or San Fransisco as well.Enid is 18 years old during the telling of the story, she's a clever, impulsive, cynical and bitter teenager, who recently graduated from her high school, with best friend Rebecca Doppelmeyer.Few is known about Enid's childhood. Her father had their surname legally changed from Cohn before she was born, and divorced from her mother during her childhood, obtaining the parental guard. Her father once had a relashionship with a woman named Maxine during Enid's early teenage, and despite the hate of Enid, he tries to reconquer Maxine during the movie.Enid's religious heritage seems to be Judaism.Enid lost her virginity with a boy named Allen Weinstein (book).Other love interest are Josh and Seymour.Enid almost suceeded into entering a prestigious art school, but failed because of a rascist misinterpretation of one of her art piece.Enid disastrous jobs attempts consisted to work in a cinema candy shop (fired on the first day for insubordination), and a company named Computer Station (quitted without warning). At the end of the movie, .the destination of Enid's bus is uncertain, and just referenced as some random place .
