The younger of two germanic brothers who were captured and sold as slaves to the lanista Batiatus. Duro was often protected by his older brother Agron during their training in Batiatus' ludus. At this time, Batiatus' former champion gladiator, Crixus, was recovering from a serious wound, and the Doctore felt it would be best for Crixus to train against Duro, an inexperienced opponent. The two brothers came to despise Crixus, but it was Spartacus who pursuaded Agron not to make any attempts against Crixus, or they would most likely be punished and unable to look out for each other. Both brothers eventually earned the mark of the brotherhood, but it was Agron who proved himself the better gladiator, and Duro longed for the chance to prove his worth without his older brother looking after him. With his fiery temperament, Duro never really settled with his life in the ludus, and when Spartacus revealed his plan to rebel against their masters, Duro and Agron were the first to follow him. Once the rioting broke out, Duro and Agron stayed behind in the training yard to battle the guards. Duro took a lethal sword blow to his naval saving his brother, and Agron cut the Roman's head off. Duro died in his brother's arms, smiling and saying this time, I saved you, Brother.
