Dr. Roland Freisler (30 October 1893 3 February 1945) was known to be the most severely prosecutorial, notorious Nazi judge who served the Third Reich with extreme loyalty. Finding onesself appearing in front of him was considered tantamount to receiving the death sentence which he freely handed out. He is particularly remembered for events occurring with a large number of the accused appearing before him who had been associated with the July 20, 1944 attempt on Hitler's life at the Wolf's Lair. To further demean those persons appearing, they were given trousers too big for them, which required them to stand before him while holding their trousers up, thereby even separating them from the most modest and diminished persons within the Reich. He was known to pass sentences so loudly that cameramen who were filming the proceedings had difficulty in hearing the defendant's words. In a particularly notorious case trying members of the White Rose anti-Hitler group, he specified that they be executed by the guillotine. Many versions are advanced as to his death by Allied bombing. but it was during proceedings of his Peoples Court on 3 February 1945. Apparently, no one regretted his death and when his body was brought into Luetzow Hospital, Louise Jodl, widow of the late Alfred Jodl, (who was executed by the Nuremburg Tribunal) reported that it was heard said that, It is God's verdict, and no one said a word in reply. Richter Dr. Roland Freisler has been published as an Alternate name on Roland Freislers IMDB character page. Richter is the German word for judge, and as with Dr. it is only referring to his title.
