Detective Chance Briggs is a loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules. The unsung hero of the show, he always finds himself at the hospital precisely when he is needed to save the day. Briggs is haunted by his past, his former partnership with Dr. Owen Maestro went sour and it's the main cause of his unease throughout the show. The constant frown and disgruntled grimace Chance is always sporting can be traced back to that fateful day that split the dynamic duo apart, and that date will live on in infamy. September 11th, 2001. Although Detective Chance Briggs plays a relatively minor role in the show, his character brings it life and adds to the incredibly eclectic and spontaneous back story that is at the root of most of its humor.
