Derek McNamera (Matt Angel) is the geeky, virgin, friend of Skye Rotter (Lauren McKnight). Within the first movie, Derek is shown to think mostly of sex, on occasions even asking Skye if she will take his virginity. Derek agrees to sneak into Madison Pennrose (Julianna Guill) sweet 16 party. While at the party Derek is locked in a cage by Kevin Donaldson (Joey Nappo) whom he is bullied by. His screams for help are heared by a drunk Lily McFadden (Leandra Terranzano). After being let out, the two hook up. Derek decides to leave the party with Skye, but when a dead body is discovered, all the partiers flee. Derek goes back into the venue to save Skye. After a pursuit from the killer, Derek is grabbed by the killer who begins to strangle him. Skye pleads to let him go. The killer listens, and instead of murdering Derek, locks him outside.In the sequel, Derek is shown to attend a renunion for the victims of the party, before him and Brigg (Chris Zylka) are locked in the hall. As Derek walks down a hall, the killer jumps out at him before stabbing him multiple times in the neck. This is shown to be a dream in which Skye rotter has, and never actually took place. Derek and Brigg are shown to have become friends. Derek also finds a love intrest, Courtney (Gina Rodriguez). After recieving the first contact from Skye since the party, Derek traces where she is and himself, Brigg and Courtney set out to find her. They arrive at the club where Skye is attending a party. Derek and Courtney get into a fight however, and this results in Courtney revealing Skye's dark past to Alex (Kirsten Prout). Derek and Skye reconcile for a few minutes, but Courtney storms out forcing Derek to go after her. While in an alley beside the club, Skye watches the pairs fight from a-far, horrified to see the killer attack the pair. In a bid to save Courtney, Derek hits the killer with a wooden pole with nails attatched. The killer however overpowers Derek, stabbing the nails into his neck, which slowly kills him. Show less «
