Daniel 'Dan' Challis is a hardworking doctor and resident of Northern California who is struggling with his relationships with his ex-wife and two kids. On October 23rd, 1982, Challis was called into work at a local hospital after a man is brought in trembling in fear, clutching a Halloween mask and uttering the words, They're going to kill us. All of us. The man, Harry Grimbridge, was killed in his sleep that night by an unidentified man who blows himself up in his car after murdering Grimbridge. The next morning, Grimbridge's daughter, Ellie, comes into the hospital after hearing news of her father's death. Challis is confronted by her at a bar later. He reveals to Ellie what had happened that night and shows her the exact mask her father was holding. Challis and Ellie trace the mask back to Silver Shamrock Novelties and its owner, Conal Cochran, in Santa Mira. It is here that Challis discovers Cochran's plan to kill thousands of kids on Halloween Night after Ellie mysteriously disappears. Challis finds out that the Silver Shamrock trademark on the masks contains a computer chip with a small fragment of stonehenge. When The Big Give-Away airs on Halloween Night, the chips will activate causing the mask wearer's head to dissolve and spew with insects and snakes.Challis escapes captivity in the factory and rescues somebody he believes to be Ellie. He then destroys Cochran and the factory by dumping the Silver Shamrock trademarks everywhere and airing The Big Give-Away. However, while returning home, he is attacked by an android that he mistook for Ellie. The android attempts to kill Challis, but he escapes after a grueling battle with it. He runs to the same gas station that Ellie's father was found at in the beginning just as The Big Give-Away is starting. He convinces the station managers to remove the commercial from channels one and two, but not the third. Challis is last seen yelling, Turn it off! Stop it! Stop it! Show less «
