While in her room writing a christmas present to her half sister Leigh (Kristen Cloke) she hears strange noises from her wardrobe. She discovers its nothing and returns to writing the present, but finds the fountain pen she has been using is gone. Suddenly she is attacked and has a bag pulled over her head. As she struggles the killer stabs her in the eye with the fountain pen, killing her. Later on in the movie Leigh comes to the sorority house looking for Clair as they were supposed to be going skiing for the christmas season. Leigh refuses to leave without finding Clair as she believes she may still be alive. Clair's body is placed on a rocking chair in the attic, the plastic bag still over her head. This is discovered by both Megan Helms (Jessica Harmon), who is murdered shortly after, and Leigh.Trivia This character is an homage to the original Black Christmas (1974), in the sense that she is the first to die all by herself and shares the same name (Clare) in different spelling.
