Chloe Hewett is the adult daughter of self-made business tycoon Alec Wilton and his wife Eleanor. Raised in the tony section of Belgravia in London, like her father, she is unpretentious and trusting. Professionally, she has impeccable taste, scours places like the Tate Modern for up and coming artists, and opens her own art gallery. Chloe is introduced to her future husband, Chris Wilton, a former tennis professional on the pro circuit, when her brother invites him to the family's box at the opera. Chloe falls for Chris immediately and they eventually marry. Eager to have a baby, she struggles with infertility when she fails to get pregnant. Although Chris is distant and moody, Chloe still assumes he is as madly in love with her as she is with him. Unbeknownst to her, however, Chris is embroiled in a passionate affair with the much sexier Nola Rice, the woman engaged to Chloe's brother. She suspects something after several months, but chooses to believe Chris when he denies the affair. Sweet and guileless, Chloe is a sympathetic character. She is the kind of woman who would be crushed if she found out about her husband's infidelity.
