Charlie is a street kid who first meets Ross and Hathaway in Ghosts #3.5 on the Mobile health van that is brought to County General when Southside closes. Charlie later brings an infant to a morning vaccination clinic, claiming that she is the mother, when clearly she is merely watching the infant. When Ross gets labs back from the clinic after he returns to the hospital, he finds out the infant has a serious condition that needs to be treated surgically. However, when he goes to the shelter where Charlie says the mother and infant stay, he comes up empty handed.Charlie finally shows up with the infant in Homeless for the Holidays #3.10, where he whisks the baby away to surgery. Charlie begs Ross to let her take the baby back, claiming that the babies' mother, Gloria Lopez, will kick her out if she finds out she doesn't get him back home before the mother gets home. Ross finds Charlie stealing hospital food, so he treats her to lunch....and she promptly steals his wallet. She shows up at his home later, claiming that Gloria kicked her out and wants to stay with Ross. Ross -- using good judgement for the first time in his life -- takes her to Hathaway's for one night.Charlie shows up in the er again in Night Shift #3.11 asking Ross for money, claiming that if she doens't pay her pimp $100, he was gonna beat her up. Ross blows her off and chalks it up to a troubled young girl. Several hours later, Charlie returns to the ER, bloodied, battered and raped, requiring surgery to fix a broken jaw and arm, among other injuries.Charlie's last appearance for awhile is in Post Mortem #3.12 when she is still in the hospital, waiting to be placed into the DCFS system. Ross follows Charlie's case closely, transporting her to the specialists in the hospital. Ross is particularly irritated when he finds out that she isn't a street kid after all and she lives 10 blocks away. However, mom admits to beating Charlie, being unable to keep Charlie home at night and that one or two of mom's boyfriends had sexually abused Charlie. Charlie also convinces the psych doctor and social worker, along with her mother that Dr. Ross has agreed to be her guardian. When Ross quashes the lie, Charlie blows up again and threatens to run away for good.Charlie's last appearance on the series is in One More for the Road #3.22.
