The son of Fred and Sarah Lee Gates, Chad Gates was born in Atlanta Georgia. his father was the vice-president of the Southern Hawaiian Pineapple company and move the family to Hawaii after being tranferred ther by his boss Jack Kellman. Chad became an expert surfer and made friends with the native beach boys. Upon reaching adulthood, Chad realized that his parents expected him to follow in his father's footsteps and become an executive in the Southern Hawaiian Pineapple Company. Chad decided that he was not interrested in working in an atmosphere where everything is handed to him on a silver platter. Instead, Chad joined the army where he served for two years, acheiving the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge. After his release fro the army, Chad took a job as a tour guide at a local tourist agency where his girlfriend Maile Duval worked. Chad liked the job, but later got into trouble trying to protect one of his underaged clients. The trouble cost hi his job at the tourist agency, so he decided to go in business for himself as a tour guide working for his father's company. Once he established himself by starting the Gates of Hawaii tourist agency, he married his long time girlfriend Maile Duval. Show less «
