*Warning Spoilers* We first see Cecil Fredericks at the beginning of the first movie in the trilogy, Night at the Museum. He is to all appearances the kindly head night guard at The Museum of Natural History in New York City. He and his two colleagues are about to be replaced by a single, younger night guard, because of budget cuts. At first it seems that they have chosen Larry Daley, because he is somehow special and can do the job, but we later find that they really chose him as a patsy for their secret schemes. It turns out that Larry is actually the best person to stop them (unbeknownst to both them and Larry until the very end.) They end up have their plans foiled by the ironic fact the Cecil had earlier told Larry to study up on History to help him with his night guard duties. Having knowledge of history is what ultimately gives Larry the tools to stop them. The last time we see Cecil and his friends in the first movie, they are moping the floor in the museum, which leads to the assumption that either Larry didn't turn them in, or the Museum didn't press charges. The next time we see the trio, is near the beginning of the third and final installment in the trilogy, Night at the Museum: The Secret of the Tomb. We learn that Larry actually got them out of jail and that they are now living happily in a retirement home. We also learn some very interesting things about Cecil Fredericks and his past. *SUPER SPOILERS AHEAD* It turns out that Cecil is the son of a prominent archeologist who headed the original Ahkmenrah expedition back in the 1930's. He was then known as C.J. Fredericks and he was the one who, at the age of 11 or 12, stumbled upon the tomb of Ahkmenrah and discovered the Tablet. Larry seeks him out in the third film, to find out if he might know why the Tablet is corroding. Cecil informs Larry of an old prophesy and tells him that Ahkmenrah's parents are at The British Museum. This prompts Larry to go on his next big adventure and leads to a very intriguing finish to the series.
