Brenda Carter (born 1988) is the middle child of Big Bob and Ethel Carter, sibling of Lynn Bukowski and Bobby Carter, sister-in-law of Doug Bukowski, and maternal aunt of Catherine Bukowski. At age seventeen, Brenda was forced to attend a family road trip to San Diego as opposed to partying in Cancun with her friends. The family left on 15 July, 2005 and crossed into Yuma Flats, New Mexico (also known as Sector 16) on 17 July, 2005. Brenda was outspoken and possessed a rebellious attitude, occasionally coming across as unfriendly or ill-mannered. She was the first member of the Carter family to suspect that the gas station attendant was not being honest with them, although Brenda didn't voice her concerns until it was already too late.Following the crash that left her family stranded in the desert, Brenda became annoyed but showed no signs of fear or apprehension. She spent her time sunbathing by herself, only speaking when addressed by the others. A conversation with Lynn revealed that Brenda did not yet have a job, and that Brenda frowned upon Lynn's own career path - helping Doug at his telecommunications store. Shortly afterwards, Ethel insisted Brenda join in on the family prayer, much to her daughter's dismay. After Doug and Bob left to look for help, the rest of the family had lunch and conversation. Brenda stated her belief that had they not taken the shortcut, they would have been in their current predicament; she scoffed at Ethel's idea that anything good could come of it before retreating back into the trailer. In the process, she accidentally released tone of their pet German shepards, whom Bobby chased after.By nightfall, Brenda was able to find her brother, oblivious to his grisly discoveries, and brought him back to the trailer. Like the other family members, she was confused by Bobby's strange behaviour, but did not pry. Shortly afterwards, Brenda put herself and baby Catherine to bed, only to be awoken by one of the mutants, Pluto. After making sure the rest of the Carters had been lured away, Pluto attempted to sexually assault her, despite the fact he clearly did not understand what he was doing. He was interrupted by his cousin, Lizard, who forced him away. Unfortunately, the motivation behind Lizard's actions was clear: he wanted Brenda for himself. Although Brenda fought off Lizard's advances to the best of her abilities, it was no challenge at all for the hill dweller to overpower and rape her.By the time Lynn came to investigate, Pluto had taken Brenda as hostage. Brenda watched, traumatized, as Lizard forced Lynn's blouse open and breastfed - all the while holding Catherine at gunpoint. Ethel entered the trailer, prepared to pulverize Lizard with a large rock, only to be shot fatally in the stomach. As Brenda wept, Lizard pointed the gun at her, prepared to shoot. Her life was saved by Lynn, who had taken this opportunity to find a fallen screwdriver and plung it into Lizard's thigh. Enraged, he shot Lynn in the head, ending her life.Lizard forced Brenda out the door, presumably to kidnap her, but changed his mind after noticing the approaching Doug and Bobby. After discovering his weapon was out of bullets, Lizard promised to return for her before escaping with Pluto, who had stolen the baby. Brenda lay on the ground, sobbing, until being helped back into the trailer by Bobby. She spent the rest of the night in a shellshocked state, left broken and haunted by what she had experienced. The following morning, Brenda, while still in a great deal of emotional distress, assisted Bobby with setting a trap for the mutants. Eventually their camp was infiltrated by Papa Jupiter, the patriarch of this particular clan. Brenda released gas from the propane tanks while Bobby bound their attacker's hands to the window. Shortly after the siblings escaped, their trailer was destroyed in an explosion. While walking through the ruins of the trailer, Brenda and Bobby discovered that Jupiter was alive, albeit fatally wounded. Enraged, Brenda killed him with a pickaxe to the skull and soon spotted Doug with the newly-rescued Catherine and Beast. Unfortunately for them, the happy reunion was brief; the survivors had been discovered by Papa Hades, the leader of another mutant clan. After splitting up with the rest of their family, Brenda and Bobby were found by the police - narrowly escaping two mutants who were tracking them - and informed them of the situation.Other than the fact she and Bobby are the sole survivors of the vacationing Carter-Bukowski family, Brenda's fate has not been revealed.
