Little info, if anything, is known about Benjamin Kertland except that he is a dear friend of Siobhan's, acting as her bodyguard and also protecting her family and companions whenever they need it. His mugshot is seen on Rachael's laptop in Season 2, implying that he has been involved with some sort of organized criminal activity in the past although it is never revealed whether he is a convicted felon or not. He is from the United Kingdom presumably. At first he is thought to be a child abductor but this later turns out to be a clever setup to get both Sarah and Kira to Siobhan without being followed. Sarah tries to beat him up initially after he wields a knife (not to harm her but to cut the ties from her hands that were used to restrain her) but Siobhan puts a stop to it and informs Sarah that he isn't dangerous. After getting into his car in Toronto, Siobhan idly threatened to kill him if he were ever disloyal to her after she killed the traitorous Birdwatchers, but she does care about him and often thanks him for his services, even affectionately hugging him in one episode after he offers to transport Kira to a safe house by transfer truck. He was revealed to be a possible traitor who helped Kira get stolen from a hospital, but this turned out to be false as he is completely loyal to Siobhan. Benjamin is very reliable and helpful despite his at times sneaky and quiet methods and creepy demeanor. Sarah initially thought he was weird and possibly not trustworthy and is often what Benjamin describes as stroppy to him (telling him to bugger off , snapping and yelling at him rudely, accusing him of things he has no part in), but by Season 4 she eventually grew to like him and regard him as a close friend herself. In 'The Scandal of Altruism', when Ira tries to commit suicide by overdosing on pills, Benjamin saves his life by calling 911. Benjamin often wears drab clothing, has overlong dark brown hair, a British accent, a thin face and large eyes. He has no apparent family or relations but he is considered by Siobhan to be a valued member of her own family of trusted allies. Benjamin is portrayed by Canadian-British actor Julian Richings (Supernatural, Patch Town, The Rainbow Kid).
