However a year after her death, the four friends begin receiving ominous messages from a mysterious A. A threatens to expose all their secrets. The four friends fear that A is really Alison. Aria is the first person to receive a message from A.Aria and her family moved to Iceland after Alison's death and have just returned to Rosewood. Aria knows her father had an affair and cheated on her mother but Aria's mother does not know this. Because of this, Aria has a strained relationship with her father. Alison was one of the few people who knew about Byron's affair with his former student and Alison used this knowledge to tease Aria and also to get Aria to do her bidding.
