Wilton was named co-Offensive Player of the Game against the University of Central Florida on September 10, 2016, after going 25 of 37 passing for 312 yards and four touchdowns. His 21 of 34 passing for 189 yards and one touchdown against Penn State on September 24, 2016 earned him co-Offensive Player of the Week honors. After completing nearly 70 percent of his passes (16 of 23) for 253 yards and two scores against Illinois on October 22, 2016, Wilton was named Offensive Player of the Game. On November 5, 2016, Wilton earned Offensive Player of the Game honors, after setting career-highs in completion percentage (79 percent) and yards (362).
