Native of Wilmington, NC, William "Shaw" Burney worked a variety of crew positions for films created at DEG Studios (DeLaurentis Entertainment Group) in Wilmington, NC. (DEG Studios Wilmington later became Carolco, then later EUE/Screen Gems Studios). He worked as a set prop man for the art department on Director David Lynch's 1986 masterpiece "Blue Velvet." Burney appears in an interview about his experience as a crew member in "It's a Strange World: The Filming of Blue Velvet," a documentary made to celebrate the movie's 25th Anniversary. He has numerous crew credits and was a unit manager for 4 episodes of the 1988 hit TV Mini-Series "Noble House" which featured actor Pierce Brosnan. Burney is also known for his work as a location scout.He resides in Wilmington, where he has an award-winning fine-gardening firm that has designed and created ribbon-cutting gardens featured in the NC Azalea Festival.
