Wendy King started her show business career when she was 15, as lead singer for the most famous big band of the 60s Bob Miller and the Millermen. She led the band for four years, before appearing on Hughie Green's Opportunity Knocks (1956), which she won for six consecutive weeks, knocking Mary Hopkin off the top spot, to become the most voted for female singer ever to appear on the show.Wendy featured the ukulele in her shows, and it was her world class playing skills that brought her the national and international attention she still enjoys. Wendy's exposure on Opportunity Knocks, saw her go on to appear with all the leading comedy talents of the time, both on television and in live theatre.
