Walter Stanley Olszewski was born September 27, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduated of Withee High School, he traveled to Washington D.C. with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)American Youth Congress where he met Eleanor Roosevelt. After high school he became a baker in the CCCs in Minocque WI at Camp Blue Lake. Later he would bake a Camp Blue Lake Special cake for his children's birthdays. From there he moved to Chicago to supervise the building of military tanks at Press Steel. Skilled as a pipe fitter and welder, Walter graduated from the MJ Kennedy Electronics School as an electronics specialist. In 1964 he was the supervised the building of the Quad City Nuclear Power Plant. He was a sixty-year member of the Chicago Chapter of the Electrical Craftsman. A member of the Masonic Fraternity for over fifty years he was Master of Lodge Avalon-Damascus number 888 in 1972.On August 5, 1942 he married Anne M. Olszewski (nee Otrin) of Owen. Early in their married life, the couple lived on their farm in Withee, after which they moved to the Chicago area. Anne and Walter enjoyed dancing their entire married life graduating in 1957 from the College of Do Si Dos with a Bachelor of Square Dancing. They raised four children in Chicago and at retirement, moved to Jupiter, FL, to be near their daughter Jan and her family. In Florida they traveled the State to many a Slovenian Polka party and were very active in the SNPJ a Slovenian organization. Walter loved to travel and especially enjoyed traveling to Poland and Slovenia with Anne to meet distant relatives. He also traveled for work including a time on the Alaskan pipeline. In 2009 they moved to California to live with their son Laddie and his family. It was there at the age of 95 he had his first acting job in the film "The Red House",where he plays the character "Isaiah King", the Grandfather to Brendan Wayne ( John Wayne's Grandson) and the father to John Otrin.
