Vicente started shooting shorts in Brasilia in Super-8 when he was 12. He later worked as an AD for Paul Mazursky, Hector Babenco, Bruno Barreto and Carlos Diegues. His first feature was the doc "Too Much Brazil", released in 2000. Screen International and Filmmaker Magazine have listed Vicente Amorim as one of the most important independent filmmakers in the world. Vicente's films received 22 nominations for the Brazilian Academy Awards and have been to festivals such as Toronto, New Films/New Directors, Rotterdam, Karlovy Vary, Montreal, Rio, San Sebastian and many others. His films include "Good", with Viggo Mortensen; "The Middle of the World", with Wagner Moura; "Rio, I Love You", directed alongside Paolo Sorrentino, Fernando Meirelles, John Torturro and 7 other of the world's top directors; and Too Much Brazil, which was awarded with the UNESCO seal. "Good" was on Rex Reed's (The New York Observer) and The Hollywood Reporter's "top 10 films of 2008" lists.
