Vasile Flutur is an actor/director/playwright born in Suceava, Romania, currently based in NYC.A conscious and inexhaustible decision to pursue acting was made as early as the green age of 12, merely as consequence of being a VHS witness to the coolness of all the guys not looking at explosions in Hollywood flicks of the B division. It wasn't until high school, however, that he first experienced the nerves of having to set foot in front of an audience. "The Knockers", an adolescently percolated troupe, was a beautiful vehicle for traveling the country to perform (in Romanian, as well as English) in many a theater festival for teenagers.Vasile obtained my BFA from the prestigious National University for Theater and Film, Bucharest. With Stanislavsky at its foundation, this intense program also provided valuable insight into the works of Grotowsky, Meyerhold, Chekhov, Lecoq, Spolin and others. It is also the place where he armed himself with indispensable tools for tackling classical work as well as contemporary, improvisation, Commedia del'Arte, acting on camera, etc. On graduation, He was offered the Stefan Iordache award for best actor. His MFA he obtained from Brooklyn college.Since he arrived in NYC, he has worked extensively with Piper Theater Productions, a Park Slope based company that proposed some scores that would change any actor's life.He is happy to have recently made his Off-Broadway debut in Tamburlaine, directed by sir Michael Boyd at Theater for a New Audience, a show that was awarded "Most Honorable Mention" in the New York Times "Best Shows of 2014."
