Uzoamaka Aniunoh had always been a fan of films but never imagined she would become one of the fast rising actors in her country. She was born in Onitsha, Anambra State to Patrick Aniunoh, a trader and Francisca Aniunoh a school teacher.Growing up, Uzoamaka dreamed of becoming a Lawyer, but this dream was cut short when the university she wanted to attend did not have the course accredited. She opted for Theatre Arts and her father refused saying that she needed to study a course with better employment opportunity. She went on to study English and History at the University of Nigeria after which she worked for an international network provider in Nigeria.In 2014, Uzoamaka started a reality blog where she wrote about her daily experiences in Lagos as a way to deal with the pressures she faced in the city. The blog garnered wide readership and by the end of 2015, Uzoamaka made the blog private explaining that she felt too exposed.In 2015, Uzoamaka moved to England to study Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham right after she graduated from the Farafina Writing Workshop taught by the world renowned Novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.Uzoamaka's writings focus on family, loss and society. Her stories have been published in different online platforms.Whilst studying in England, Uzoamaka came in contact with the works of Michaela Coel, the British filmmaker and creator of Chewing Gum. She studied Michaela Coel's success and became inspired to actively pursue her acting dreams.In 2017, Uzoamaka returned to Nigeria, ready to win in Nollywood. She attended public auditions and landed her first job as a sub lead actor on the Pan African tv series, MTV Shuga where she played the role of Cynthia. She has gone on to star in several other notable works such as Rumour Has It on Ndani Tv and Riona on Africa Magic.Uzoamaka is a feminist who is passionate about justice, fairness and equality. She is known on her social media platforms to be vocal about matters that affect women.
