On the gridiron Higbee reeled in 42 receptions as a tight end, leading the county in receptions to total over 540 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his final season. He finished his career with over 1,100 yards receiving and 18 touchdowns. Higbee earned first-team All-County honors as well as being a Pinellas County All-Star his senior year. Rivals.com rated him as a two-star recruit after lettering all four years in football. He also earned a pair of letters on the baseball diamond at the varsity level. At Western Kentucky, Higbee racked up a pair of 100-yard receiving games and four touchdowns through the first four games of the year and caught at least one touchdown in six of his nine games, including two, two-touchdowns game. He was named the John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week following the season opener at Vanderbilt when he caught four passes for 102 yards. As a junior in 2014, he tallied 230 yards on 15 receptions, including four touchdowns. Higbee notched a breakout performance at No. 19 Marshall when came up with three-touchdowns on six passes for 99 yards, to earn CFPA honorable mention National Tight End of the Week honors. He was also one of only three tight ends last season to catch at least three touchdowns in a game, joined by FIU's Jonnu Smith and Minnesota's Maxx Williams. Show less «
