In 1990, his mother suffers a car accident and passes away, making Tom and his family move to New York. He learned to play piano at age 7 to 12 and asked a battery birthday. With nine years has attended a theater school in New York, where he stayed until age 15. Comes back to Paris after completing the classes dramatic. During this time also showed great interest in food, making three years of courses in this area. At 18 he goes to Harvard, where he graduated in Art History in 1999.
