Tom Ammiano came out as a gay teacher in 1975 with his lover Tim, founded the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, served on the SF Unified School District board, and has been a member of the SF Board of Supervisor since 1994. Ran for San Francisco Mayor in 1999 and 2003.
