Todd Daniel Shumpert, a native of Smyrna, Georgia, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. While in college he performed in several plays and musicals, including Cabaret, Oklahoma!, Stage Door, Kiss Me Kate, and Brigadoon. Todd received a full tuition music scholarship at Jax State and was awarded the Leadership Scholarship four years in a row.Todd took a break from acting to become Rev. Shumpert. in 1997 he received the Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA - a seminary of the Presbyterian Church (USA). While in seminary, Todd was awarded a position as a Theological Student Intern for the Presbyterian Peacemaking Jubilee at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, an event celebrating the 50th anniversaries of the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program and the United Nations. Todd spent the year after that in field instruction and contextual learning as a ministry intern for a rural Presbyterian church near Sandhills, North Carolina.Todd has served as an Associate Pastor in Long Island, NY, and as Pastor for a rural church in Georgia and for the Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church in West Orange, NJ. He has further served the PC(USA) as a member of the Higher Education Committee (Long Island Presbytery) and the Committee On Ministry for Newark Presbytery, as well as Presbytery Moderator (Newark). Todd has also served as the Vice-Chair for the Bloomfield Township Commission on Civil and Human Rights.For the eight years, Rev. Shumpert served Bloomfield College (Bloomfield, NJ) as the Director of Spiritual Life and College Chaplain and as an adjunct professor and lecturer in the Religion Department within the school's Humanities Division. It was while working in this college environment that Todd got back into acting. He was cast by Bob Cline as First Officer Murdoch in the musical Titanic. The musical was produced by MOC. Founded in 1925 and incorporated in 1934 as the Montclair Operetta Club, MOC has one of the oldest and richest histories of any community theater. In fact, it is one the oldest theatrical organization of its kind in the United States. Since then, Todd can usually be found in a stage production in Northern New Jersey with organizations such as Chatham Community Players (Chatham, NJ), 4th Wall (Bloomfield, NJ), and the newly formed Pleasant Valley Productions (West Orange, NJ) which stages its shows at Todd's church. He has also made appearances in film, television and as a voiceover talent.Todd and his wife Nicole have been married since September, 2008, and own a home in Bloomfield, NJ, a suburban town 12 miles due west of New York City.
