Tintswalo Khumbuza was born in a small town in Giyani, South Africa. She was raised in Katlehong east of Johannesburg during the apartheid era. Her love of acting developed early as she performed in front of her family, imitating the characters she saw on television. Her penchant for imitating the local people allowed her to learn many languages. She experienced first-hand the atrocities of living under an apartheid regime, yet dreamed of one day coming to North America to become an actress; a highly unlikely prospect at that time for a black woman.The end of apartheid allowed Tintswalo to pursue her dream, but prospects were limited in South Africa. Inspired by her hero Nelson Mandela when he said "it always seems impossible until it's done", she moved to Canada and completed the two year full-time acting program at New Image College of Fine Arts in Vancouver. During that time, she performed in numerous school theatre productions, such as Death Comes to Us All Mary Agnes, 'Dentity Crisis, The Dining Room, and Blackout. Additionally, she performed in short films, such as The Pitch and Lady Bug. Prior to her graduation from New Image, she landed the role of Mary on an episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Season 2.Tintswalo brings a new and refreshing approach to all of her characters, often bringing the audience to tears during dramatic performances. She is very grateful for the opportunity she has to fulfill her acting dream. She wants to be an inspiration to all young people that, despite dire circumstances, great desire and perseverance can accomplish great things. She strives to be an example that dreams do come true.
