James (Ted) Harvey was born in Detroit Michigan into a Musical, Artistic and Performing Arts family. The 7th of 8 children, Ted's Father ran an Art Studio in Detroit which produced Commercials and full page print adds mostly for the Big Three Auto Makers of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Don Harvey Sr. was also a drummer and trumpet player and a member of the Detroit Federation of Jazz Musicians and held jam sessions in his studio. He also made movies starring his children, mostly Westerns in the families sprawling house. Ted's mother Patricia was a school teacher who also played piano and sang in many local Detroit bands. Ted began performing in community plays at the age of 12 and continued through High School. Ted got serious about acting at age 20 studying at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Ted fronted the rock band Mud Puppies in the late 80's and early 90's writing the bands songs. While performing in the play,"The Fool" at Los Angeles' MET Theater under the Direction of James Gammon, Ted caught the eye of Casting Director Bonnie Timmerman, who invited him to audition for the movie HEAT. Ted was chosen to work with Director Michael Mann in the casting process and helped shape many of the scenes in the movie while rehearsing with Al Pacino and got his first SAG job acting in the Film. A return to San Francisco saw Ted continue work in Theater and indie Films. Ted has earned a reputation in the Bay Area as a professional and dynamic Actor with unlimited range and a passionate approach to the craft. After taking some time off for personal family matters he recommitted himself to a career in Film. Ted Is currently Directing and Producing a Documentary on San Francisco's Mission District as seen through the eyes of a long established Mexican family. Ted continues to write and record original music with longtime producing partner Dave Denny. He has recently signed on to play the leading role of George Leggiere in the Feature Film 'Cold Pressed" which begins principle photography in January 2015.
