He ended his collegiate career ranked 4th in FBS history with 132 TD passes and ranked 6th with 14,959 yards passing. Heinicke played in East-West Shrine All-Star Game to cap his career. He also earned the Walter Payton Award as a sophomore as the FCS Player of the Year as well as All-America honors from Associated Press and the Walter Camp. As a sophomore, he led the nation with 5,076 yards passing and 44 TD passes along with 11 rushing TDs. Heinicke posted 9 games with 300+ yards passing in record-setting sophomore campaign. Heinicke signed with Houston in 2017 after spending time on the New England practice squad. He was active for three games, serving as the backup quarterback and seeing action in one game.
