Tate Lauren Kenney was born on July 25 in Ontario, Canada to Tammy (Bourdon), a marketing analyst, and Scott Kenney, a police officer. She has a younger sister Tara and has German, Irish and French ancestry.She began as a FORD model in early childhood and was involved in competitive cheer-leading, tennis, soccer, various forms of dance, as well as cross-country and track-and-field running. She began acting in children's theater at age 8 but stopped as she begun high school in order to focus on her academics and competitive athletic endeavors.After high school, she returned to acting, performing in several theater productions out of London, Ontario, including the world premiere of Kierston Drier's "All Things Beautiful" and she completed a few short films, including Gianni Baha's "All Alone_Together", which won "Best Relationship Drama" at the IVEY Film Festival 2012. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, holding a double major in English Language and Literature and Film Studies.Shortly after graduation, she began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in their Two Year Conservatory Program, which allowed her to move to New York City and begin working. She was the recipient of the Vincent D'Onofrio Scholarship Award for her lifelong dedication to method acting and was able to train with Vincent D'Onofrio in an invitation-only masterclass.Recent NY theatre credits include Flirt in William Inge's "The Dark At The Top of The Stairs" directed by Lee Kasper, Darlene in Lanford Wilson's "Balm in Gilead" directed by Jenna Worsham and Marcia in Stephen Adly Guirgis' "Our Lady of 121st Street" directed by Kelly O'Donnell.Recent film credits include playing Marilyn Monroe in Cristina Noya's "Happy Birthday Mr. President", Brittany in Steven Liiro's "Mermaid Parade" and Curry in Charles J. Ouda's "Who Are You?" which was selected as one of the Top 35 films featured and won 'Best Director' at the 72 Hour Shootout as part of the Asian American Film Lab. Show less «
