Born in Washington DC on December 21. Tamieka Chavis began performing on stage in theatricals and musicals throughout school as a teenager and young adult. Her first role on camera was in 2005 when she portrayed Jennifer in the indie film "The Ties That Bind". Tamieka has been on a meteoric rise since her 2006 appearance on the critically acclaimed cable show "The Wire" as Mayor Royce's Assistant. Since then, she has been lauded by critics for her roles in the films "Misunderstandings" where she was nominated for a 2009 Velocity Magazine Award for Best Supporting Actress, "Torn" and the short film "Clear and Sunny Skies". This DC native has also left her imprint on stage playing lead roles in numerous productions, including "The Cafe" as Ms. Ola and "The Wiz" as the Scarecrow. Tamieka was nominated for a 2011 and 2012 Indie Soap Award for Best Lead Actress for her portrayal of Mia Stephenson in the multi-award winning television and web series "Anacostia the Series". Some of her projects include "Q&A", "Aspirin for the Masses", "Strong Start", "Beyond City Limits", "Psychic Source", and production design for the web series "IndieCapitol" and "Thick". As if film and stage weren't enough, this multi-talented actress also holds the titles of Plus Model, Casting Director, Production Designer, and Costume Designer to her recent efforts.
