Italian actress, Sylvia De Fanti was actually born in Montreal, but only lived there for the first 2 years of her life. Becoming a fluently multi-lingual, globe-trotting stage and screen performer was very like pre-ordained. Sylvia's father, an international business man, and her mother - a traditional Italian "Mamma" - moved the family to Panama, where Sylvia spent ages 3-5, before moving again, this time to Hong Kong. Here that Sylvia learned English, attending a private, English-language school from age 6-12. Then, her parents decided it was important to them that Sylvia and her brother Robie (a successful European sports agent) be raised in their native Italy and so at age 12, her family returned to Rome. As a teen she was often confronted by modeling agents who aggressively pursued her, intent on convincing her to model, but Sylvia had no interest in such things!Ten years later, she moved to Paris, where she perfected her French, studied Theatre and graduated with a Masters from the University at the Sorbonne. Returning again to Rome, she continued her acting training and began working as a professional actress in theatre, film, television. In 2004, with her degree in Cultural Anthropology she co-founded first the widely recognized Angelo Mai, which grew to attain a rare revered global status as a must-visit cultural center in Rome and then co-founded Teatro Valle Occupato an "occupy" project of one of Rome's most important historical theatres. The project at Valle has been bestowed with several European humanitarian and cultural awards. Sylvia has worked with American, Italian, French and Spanish directors. She was a series regular on Italy's hugely popular and longest-running television series, "Incantesimo".Her first major role in English was recurring on the epic U.S. series "Empire", which was set in ancient Rome. Her turns starring on stage for Italy's most prestigious theatre directors, touring throughout Italy and Spain, have yielded major praise from critics in southern Europe and London. Show less «
