Stuart's education includes studying at the Royal Northern College of Music and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2016, Stuart was shortlisted as a finalist in the Royal Opera House Fanfare Competition, in which he wrote the new 'Audience Call' theme for the Royal Opera House.Through 2017, Stuart worked as assistant for Hollywood Film Composer Mark Portmann, whose credits include Mission: Impossible Fallout [2018] and First Man [2018]. In 2018, Stuart won the coveted 'Best Music' award at 'Global Shorts International Film Competition' - Los Angeles, for his soundtrack to 'Pariah' [2018]. In 2019 Stuart won best 'Film Score' award at FANS Film Festival - Edinburgh, for his soundtrack to 'Nomad' [2019].In 2019, Stuart was short-listed alongside 9 other people to become the protégé of 'JunkieXL' (formally Tom Holkenborg) who's filmography includes Mad Max: Fury Road [2015], Alita: Battle Angel [2019], Justice League [2017] and Deadpool [2016]. He has also received mentorship from Paul Chihara, whose former students include James Horner [Titanic 1997, Avatar 2009] and Joseph Trapanese [The Greatest Showman 2018, Robin Hood 2018].
