Born in San Francisco, Steve Sturla's first foray into performing was as a standup at The Other Café in the Haight Ashbury. Upon moving to Los Angeles, he opened for the band WAR at Trancas in Malibu. Later, Sturla put together a sketch comedy group called "The Santa Ana Winds," which performed for two years at the Comedy Store, The Improv and HBO Workspace. It was directed by legendary actress Sheree North and featured such performers as Rockmond Dunbar, Warren Hall, Maria Russell, Kyle Gass (together with Jack Black, the other half of Tenacious D), Tanjareen Martin, Chantal Lashon and Donald E. Lacy. Sturla also booked guest star roles on "Days of our Lives" and "Santa Barbara." Sturla had recurring roles on The Attack of the Show, with Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira and performed with Paul Scheer of "The League." As a director, Sturla directed the pilot episode of "The Gary Carter Show," starring the Hall of Fame catcher, and the short film "The Secret Life of Rocky Perone." The film is about the true life story of Richard Pohle, alias "Rocky Perone," who, at the age of 36, put a wig over his balding head, changed his identity and passed himself off as a 21 year old. Remarkably, he was then signed by the San Diego Padres. Sturla now intends to make a feature film of the story. As host of a show about classic Hollywood, Sturla has interviewed such stars as Tony Curtis, Mamie Van Doren, Lana Wood, Sally Kirkland and Betty Garrett, among many others. Sturla wrote and acted in the feature film noir comedy "Little Saigon," set to release in 2014. In 2012, along with Alex Marino and Lonny Stevens, Sturla founded the Studio City Film Festival and serves as co-director. Show less «
