Steve Sekely is originally from New York City. He has been based in Los Angeles working regularly in television, films, commercials and live improv. He was handpicked by Oscar Winner Warren Beatty and Director Barry Levinson at an audition, his very first audition in his career, for the 1991 film, "Bugsy" where he got his first break and into SAG.Shortly after that, he, got the character role of the liquor store owner in the Denzel Washington detective noir-film, "Devil In A Blue Dress".Steve is also a Dialogue Coach, in between working in front of the camera and comedy stage. His credits as coach include, "Evening Shade" (working with Burt Reynolds and cast), "The Larry Sanders Show", "News Radio",(working with Andy Dick and Phil Hartman), "Sports Night", "Rita Rocks" and "Are You There Cheslsea?". Also works on live event shows, The "Academy Awards", "Dancing with the Stars".As a teenager, he boldly prepared by himself a series of Shakespearean monologues for a tough audition in the the New York School of Performing Arts. He was sadly unsuccessful at first, but never gave up his dream. As a native New Yorker from Bayside Queens-being very urban and at times urbane, he has a distinctive way about him (including his New York Accent) and his zany characterizations of the roles he plays.Years later, as a student at St. John's University, in New York, he did make good and was successful in the theatre department. Later moving on to study acting at HB Studios with Tony Winner Uta Hagen, Herbert Berghoff, Oscar Winner Sandy Dennis and great character actor, Oscar Nominee William Hickey. In Los Angeles, Steve studied and performed improv with actors such as Tony Winner Charles Nelson Reilly and Oscar Nominee Brenda Vaccaro.When not working, Steve Sekely relaxes by being a Movie, TV, and Radio buff, collector of entertainment memorabilia and Southwestern Native American Art. A lover and owner of classic automobiles. A world traveler as well with encyclopedic knowledge of European locations and traveling on a budget.
